Last Friday, three local award-winning breakdancers — Jason “Chem” Ng, Tiangi “JuManji” Fan, and Franklin “Gin” Chen — visited Ronald McDonald House New York to teach young residents the basics of breakdancing, also known as “b-boying”. YouTube hip hop sensation “Dumbfoundead” and nationally ranked beatboxing champion Sung Lee also made a special appearance to showcase their talents. The visit concluded this year’s Summer Camp at Ronald McDonald House New York.
The day’s special instructors were featured the following night at the inaugural McDonald’s B-Boy Royale, a breakdance competition, which took place at NYU Skirball Center and featured eight leading dance crews from across the country battling it out for the grand prize of $3,000 and the honor of being named the first ever McDonald’s B-Boy Royale champion. All ticket proceeds from the event were donated to Ronald McDonald House Charities New York Tri-State Area.
