On November 25th, two days before Thanksgiving, local McDonald’s restaurant owners delivered a donation of five hundred turkeys to The FoodBank of Monmouth & Ocean Counties. The donation is part of the commitment by McDonald’s franchisees to be a good neighbor and give back to the communities where they do business.
“As small business owners in Monmouth and Ocean counties, we have first-hand experience of the challenges faced in rebuilding and restoring our communities in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy,” said Alana Marinello, Monmouth county resident and owner of the McDonald’s Restaurant on Route 36 in Union Beach. “As good neighbors, we are happy to be able to give back to the people who may still be suffering from the effects of Sandy.” added Marinello.
The donation is timely as The FoodBank is preparing to meet this need for food this holiday season. For many who face job losses and higher costs of living, holiday meals are a luxury they cannot afford.
