McDonald’s® Honored Black Media Legends and Trailblazers at the Elegant Pierre Hotel

Newark, NJ – Iselin, NJ – As a kick-off to Black History Month, McDonald’s New York Tri-State Area Restaurants has once again celebrated the achievements and talent of Black Media Legends and Trailblazers.

Hosted by nationally recognized award-winning journalist for NY1 News, Cheryl Wills, and Emmy Award Winning TV Journalist, Brenda Blackmon, this awards ceremony took place on Monday, February 2nd, from 12pm to 3pm at the elegant Pierre Hotel- 2 East 61st St. NY, NY.

McDonald’s honored these impeccable journalists for their contribution to Radio Broadcast, Print Media and Broadcast Journalism in appreciation for their work increasing knowledge and awareness for all people.

This year is the eighth anniversary and McDonald’s honored (13) Black Media Legends and Trailblazers who have impacted the community through their achievements and positive examples. The honorees include: Chuck Carter (WPIX 11), Don Collins (CBS 2), Adrian Council (Positive Community), Rev. Dennis Dillon (Christian Times), William Egyir (New York Beacon), Hank Hamlette (NBC 4), Regina Leader McKinnis (Fox 5), Yvette Miley (MSNBC), Les Payne (Newsday & NABJ), Robert Pickett, Esq. (WBLS), Deborah Roberts (ABC News), Shaila Scott (WBLS) and Tracie Strahan (NBC 4)

During the ceremony at the Pierre Hotel (2 East 61st St. New York, New York) on Monday, February 2nd, the 2015 Faces of Black History Poster featuring the 13 honorees was unveiled. This poster will also be featured on trayliners in McDonald’s restaurants during the month of February throughout the New York Tri-State Area. McDonald’s Media Legends and Trailblazers Ceremony honored the best in Media and featured great musical selections one of which include, the singing of our Negro National Anthem, Lift Every Voice, by 10 year old K’Lynn Jackman who is currently starring as Nala in the Lion King on Broadway. Also, Tony Award Winner, Melba Moore, performed her smash hit Lean on Me.
