Long Island McDonald’s Hosts 17th Annual Art Contest for Local Students

Commack High School Student Veronica Lee Wins First Place

Josh Kaufman, local McDonald’s owner and Long Island resident, hosted the 17th Annual Student Arts Awards at his restaurant. This year set a record with more than 500 submissions from students in 2nd through 12th grades from various Long Island area schools. A panel of judges made up of McDonald’s staff and managers selected 27 winning artists. Veronica Lee, a student from Commack High School, earned First Place in the 9th through 12th grade category.  She was the only entrant who submitted a painting in this year’s contest.

Parents and teachers looked on as all the students who entered the contest were recognized for their work.  “This art contest is one of the most important community events I organize on an annual basis,” said Josh Kaufman.  “It’s always a pleasure to see the students’ excitement and the art they produce is heartwarming,” he added.

The winning art pieces will be on display at the East Northport McDonald’s restaurant until April 2016.
