On the last day of the 2015 Brooklyn Nets Summer Basketball Camp, young athletes of the program received a visit from some very special guests.
Ronald McDonald, along with award-winning b-boys who competed at McDonald’s B-Boy Royale 2, surprised the participants with an exciting breakdance performance and a McDonald’s Summer Break. In attendance were Nets team member Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, McDonald’s franchisee Carmen Paulino and Natalie Leary, Director of Community Partnerships and Outreach for the NYC Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD).
In addition to sponsoring the Nets Summer Basketball Camp, McDonald’s also provided 20 scholarships to DYCD’s Fatherhood Initiative, which helps fathers to establish a positive, healthy and supportive relationship with their children by providing support for an active lifestyle. DYCD’s program is founded by research showing that children with involved fathers are less likely to get into trouble at home, school, or in the neighborhood.
