McDonald’s New York Tri-State celebrated the achievements of basketball rising star Blair Watson of Nutley High School, who has been chosen to play in the 2016 McDonald’s All American Games.
On Wednesday, March 23, franchisee Ana Madan invited Blair, her teammates and members of the local community to her McDonald’s restaurant in Belleville, New Jersey to send Blair off in style. Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo, Jr. and Nutley Mayor Alphonse Petracco joined in the celebration to congratulate Blair and wish her well. During the ceremony, Ana’s team awarded Blair with a McDonald’s certificate of achievement and the County Executive presented her with a proclamation heralding her accomplishments.
The festivities continued the next day, as local McDonald’s franchisees invited Blair to the Barclays Center in Brooklyn for a special recognition event during the highly anticipated Brooklyn Nets vs. Cleveland Cavaliers game. Franchisees Josh Kaufman, Brian Hairston, Paul Cottrell and their family members joined Blair and her mother court-side to watch the pre-game warm-ups, meet Brooklyn Nets stars Thaddeus Young and Wayne Ellington, and take photos with the players. More than 15,000 attendees were present to join them in congratulating Blair on her outstanding sportsmanship, and wished her luck in this year’s McDonald’s All American Games.
