For the second year in a row, McDonald’s New York Tri-State participated at the CUNY Big Apple Job & Internship Fair today at the Jacob Javits Convention Center. Nearly 3,000 students attended the event and visited the McDonald’s booth to learn about the range of opportunities available at the Golden Arches.
There was something for everyone as McDonald’s HR representatives connected upcoming graduates with corporate job openings and spoke to underclassmen about tuition assistance available to restaurant employees through the company’s Archways to Opportunity education program.
The diversity of jobs and career development initiatives offered by McDonald’s pleasantly surprised more than a few students.
“McDonald’s helps you build a career which I would have never known,” said Ciatta Howard, 22, a senior at LaGuardia Community College majoring in Communications.
“It’s actually very amazing,” Karina Fomicheva, 23, a recent Baruch College graduate who is pursuing a career in graphic design. “I wasn’t thinking that there were so many creative opportunities”
Today’s event is one of many local job fairs that McDonald’s regularly participates in throughout the year.
“Events like the CUNY Big Apple Job Fair allow us to share our incredible career opportunities and educational programs at a grassroots level,” said Long Island franchisee Joshua Kaufman. “There’s nothing like talking to students face-to-face and providing them with another perspective of the Golden Arches.”
