Celebrating Mother’s Day at the Ronald McDonald Houses

To celebrate Mother’s Day, local McDonald’s franchisees visited the various Ronald McDonald Houses in New York, New Brunswick, the Greater Hudson Valley and Long Island to honor and celebrate the mothers taking care of their children at the houses. Moms were presented with corsages and spa baskets as a “thank you” for all they do for their children and families. In Long Island, State Senator Jack Martins also came to the house to greet the moms and participate in the day’s activities.

“Today, we are celebrating these incredible moms for their hard work, dedication and love for their families,” said McDonald’s franchisee – and RMHLI Board President – Katie Hunt. “We are proud to partner with the Ronald McDonald House of Long Island to recognize these amazing women.”

“The mission of the Ronald McDonald House of Long Island continues to remain completely around the families and ways to make their lives just a little bit better each and every day,” said Matt Campo, President of the Ronald McDonald House of Long Island. Through our partnership with McDonald’s and the wonderful group of Long Island franchisees, we are thrilled to be able to bring smiles to the mothers staying in our house over this holiday weekend. While each family is understandably dedicated to their respective child, we wanted to this Mother’s Day to honor that dedication, if only for a little while.”

“Whether it’s love, care, comfort, or many other ways, mothers are constantly giving and putting their children’s needs ahead of their own. That’s especially true for the mothers staying at the Ronald McDonald House.  Mother’s Day is a time to show our appreciation for everything that mothers do, and this is a special way to give something back to these amazing women,” said New York State Senator Jack Martins.

The event was a part of McDonald’s nationwide effort to celebrate Mother’s Day. On May 6th, McDonald’s provided a moment of pampering for moms staying in the Ronald McDonald Houses across the country by delivering gift baskets of bath, body and spa products to the 179 Ronald McDonald Houses in the U.S. McDonald’s partnered with 1-800-Flowers on this program.
